May Greeting to each of you!
It might have arrived, spring that is! All of the boat preparations on the dock point to the fact that it might truly be here. Although, due to the weather we lost last Saturday for putting boats in, Doug and his crew are making good progress. Just a reminder to those who have boats on the dock to take ALL your garbage, recyclables, paint and leftovers home with you. The more each person cleans up their own mess, the less mess we will have to take care of on our dock clean-up days. Thanks to all of you who have already done this.
As we move through spring and our annual boat launch, we also welcome our much-anticipated Kenosha Yacht Club Bar and Restaurant which will offer a Soft Opening to our members and their guests this Saturday beginning at 5:00pm. Come on down to the club, get your 20% off and be among the first to experience our new menu!
There is no way to adequately describe the endless volunteer hours that have gone into making this venture happen and on behalf of all of us, a special “thank you” to Deb, The Galley Committee and all who have volunteered. Whether it be an hour or a week or months to help get ready by cleaning the kitchen, dining room and bar; painting the bar and dining room, power washing and painting the deck, washing and painting the deck and terrace tables and chairs and landscaping or any other job or area that needed spiffing up, for your work we are very grateful.
I encourage all of us to keep in mind that we will have an entirely new crew working in our bar and kitchen and it may take a few days for them to learn to work together as a team. So, let’s make every effort to be not only patient but supportive of all who have been hired as staff. On behalf of all of us, I thank Brody for his vision and hard work as our new General Manager and wish him well as the days move us to summer and our busy season.
Looking back, we had a very fun Cinco de Derby party on May 5th. The Club looked very festive, bartenders were on hand to serve us, hats and bow ties were plentiful, bets were placed, and many won! Good food was provided by members of the activities committee, Deb and Amy, and those who attended. Thanks to everyone for a great party!
You are invited to come to the 60th Annual Blessing of the Fleet and honor this milestone. It is scheduled for Sunday, June 3rd, at 10:30am. Following the ceremony, a buffet will be offered by our new restaurant and tickets will be available that day for $15.00 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Please see the complete information about this event in the Blessing of the Fleet article in this issue of the Mainsheet.
A huge “thank you” to all who have paid their annual dues and renewed their membership! If you have not taken time to do this I encourage you to do so soon.
I want to welcome aboard Paul Peterson and his little friend, Kira, as our new bookkeeper and assistant! Paul has been busy reconciling our accounts and updating Quickbooks. Thanks Paul!
Everyone have a fun and safe boating season!
Fair winds and smooth sailing for our sailors and calm seas for our powerboaters!
Commodore, Kenosha Yacht Club
